Sorry you didn't like the p...nonnah'sMama,

Sorry you didn't like the porridge but glad you can make use of it with these. I have a couple other recipes using masa flour on here somewhere; one is muffins, another is little griddle cakes to eat with beans and things like that :)

You can also sub out small portions of other flours with this to use it up and smuggle it in :)

Blessings and thanks for the tips!Donnahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08233687597289743076noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-776534327194644672.post-68654174374260517972012-09-14T10:45:16.519-05:002012-09-14T10:45:16.519-05:00I bought masa flour (for the 1st time) specificall...I bought masa flour (for the 1st time) specifically for making your masa porridge. So we tried it, the kids didn't like it, and I wasn't too fond of the ultra-smooth texture either:(

Hmmmm, what else to do with the rest of the masa flour....

So I thought I'd try your masa pancakes.... And WOW!!! I am totally loving them! My 12 year old said "something tastes funny" in them, but I think they are wonderful! I would make these just for me any ol' day:-D

One note to those who haven't made them before: they tend to stick in the pan pretty bad. I had to heavily grease my stainless pan. Also, they take longer to cook than a traditional pancake, like up to 5 minutes on the 1st side, then maybe 2 or 3 on the flip. ;)Shannonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02240930109112555837noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-776534327194644672.post-52226931266300890312009-04-30T11:14:00.000-05:002009-04-30T11:14:00.000-05:00If you buy "Masa flour" it has been pre-soaked in ...If you buy "Masa flour" it has been pre-soaked in lime water!

When you look on the bag of Masa, you will see ingredients as Corn,Lime.... they soak the corn in lime water before they grind it.

Or you can grind your own and soak it yourself as per N.T. - I do it with grits/polenta.

On the "comments" on this link; I told how to soak ground corn as per N.T.
http://momsfrugal.blogspot.com/2008/09/mondays-menu.htmlDonnahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08233687597289743076noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-776534327194644672.post-22125867815921038192009-04-30T07:27:00.000-05:002009-04-30T07:27:00.000-05:00Ok these look really good and I am with Denai do y...Ok these look really good and I am with Denai do you soak this too?
JoyJoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06318297692355589988noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-776534327194644672.post-69994904023444811712009-04-29T23:55:00.000-05:002009-04-29T23:55:00.000-05:00I'll email you about this Denai!I'll email you about this Denai!Donnahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08233687597289743076noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-776534327194644672.post-29477680587403190542009-04-29T20:43:00.000-05:002009-04-29T20:43:00.000-05:00DONNA!!!
