Our Thanksgiving Tree and Our Frugal Festivities

My vase for our 'tree' was blue so I simply tied up a bundle of fabric to cover it that more suited the other things. Our turkey salt and pepper shakers have been part of our table for years. They were a gift from my older children's great aunt. (One year she brought in a HUGE trash bag, filled with her "30 Days of Christmas" presents. The little turkeys were one of those daily gifts.) The rooster was a gift from my husband's mother who passed away 2 years ago this week. The table cloth was bought for $1 about 15 years ago from a dollar store. The bunny was a gift from the children to me for Christmas one year and he comes out for all table settings per the children! Then there are the turkeys my dd made to decorate with along her banners that she insists on hanging on the walls :)
The baggies with the 5 kernels have a special message about the pilgrims and God's blessings to us.

We drag out our old table and set it up in the living room so we can eat and play games together all day and listen to my free Christmas music downloads from Amazon.

We always have some type of Thanksgiving Tree.
This year we cut some branches from one of the maple trees. Everyone wrote what they were thankful for on our leaves and we 'leafed the tree'.
We also often do a Thankful for Wildlife Tree outside.
(Stringing popcorn, cereal, cranberries, etc, or whatever we have, making a 'garland'.)

We love to read Cranberry Thanksgiving along with our book about The First Thanksgiving.
I cook enough food to where we can eat for at least 5 days (which includes a Thankful For Jesus Cake) or so and play games. (Monopoly, Farkle, Clue, Cadoo, Candyland, and puzzles.)
We sometimes do crafts and coloring pages too!

But we always find frugal ways to have fun and make memories- and for that, I'm the MOST thankful!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
