Local Bread Store- college kiddos
College Kids:: BREAD STORE!--There are great deals to be had at the bread store on Spring Street. After you pass Leo's, heading away from town, go through the light and the bread store is on the right beside the parts store. It looks like a garage with 3 big doors but there's a little door to enter on the right. You can buy 3 loaves of bread for 1.79 every day and if you go at the end of the day, they may give you an even bigger discount since the bread is basically a day older. ...Buy whole grain girls! they have whole grain white bread- it's good and almost like white!.............. 3 loaves would make two of you sandwiches for lunch and toast for breakfast for a week! A jar of jelly is .99 at Dollar General Market for grape or apple. Jif peanut butter is also cheaper there than anywhere else in town. ..If you prefer sandwich meat, small packs can be bought at DGM or Save-alot for 30 or 40 cents. ..... My kids like for me to cut bread into strips and lightly butter and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar then lightly toast in the oven. They like these as a snack or with coffee and they can be stored in a ziploc and heated easily!..... You can also buy buns at the store and use them for pizza bread. Shredded Mozzarella cheese can be bought for 1.79, pizza sauce for .99, and turkey pepperoni at Kroger for $2 if it's on sale. (Parmesan cheese is $2 at Save-a-lot, if you just want sauce and cheese.) Bread can be frozen or stored in fridge for longer life. You can also cube it and toast it (with or without seasonings) for croutons on you salads. .... If anyone has one of those George Foreman grills, anything can be turned into a sandwich! My kids like leftover spaghetti with extra cheese between two slices of bread and grilled in it!--Just be sure that whatever you use in the sandwich is not 'raw'. (Raw meat can be cooked in it, but not in bread.) One of those grills might be a great addition to your dorm kitchen. Many things could be cooked in it! Perhaps you could look into that and ask for one as a gift or look around at the Goodwill or yard sales.
