Laura's Donuts are grrreat!

I used her recipe here as a guideline, but increased the baking powder to 1 T (I knew if these were heavy AND wheat, that I'd never pull it off) and the nutmeg to 1/2 t . They were very light and tasty. The kids really liked them; I thought I would get a big "it doesn't taste like Ralph's" (the local donut shop), but I didn't!

One of the boys tossed them in a bag of powdered sugar as quick as I could drain them! I love having helpers in the kitchen! This same kid, when asked to help me season my cast iron said, "I already know how". Hmmm, "okay, tell me how." And he did! When I asked him how he knew that, he said, "I don't know, just do." lol Guess he's watchin' me when him nor I know it! ;-)

Yay for donuts!! So glad your family likes them. And...if your son knows how to season cast iron...well...wow.

Those look really good and if they can beat Ralph's they are pretty awesome! Man, I love the local donut shop way too much really..I am glad I don't live next door! I will have to try these when I can get some fresh wheat..(the last store bought wheat pretty much did me in! :)
