Stringing peppers...

For drying? Have you done this before? Does it work well? Details woman!!! :D

Hi Michaela!
Yes, we've done it several times. I just hang them up in the kitchen, here and there. The kids will sometimes pull them and eat them with their meals, right off the strings until they are dry. I string them, just a needle and quilting thread, through the tops. Easy peasy!

They usually will turn red once they begin to dry. Sometimes you will notice bad spots but often they will dry on out. You can cut the bad spots out if they appear to spread.

Once they are dry, I store them in jars or ziplocs. When I make chili, I will mill them in the coffee grinder or mini food processor and dump straight in. I also will put the whole dried pepper in a jar of pickles, and other pickled or fermented foods.

I have had the kids string them, but these are hot, so I have to make sure they don't touch their face with this juice on their hands- ouch! :-)
