
What's the best way to get a kid to eat something crazy? That's easy, let them make it!
My kids are making their own homemade crackers, with seasonings of their choice to eat with their soup today. (Later we will make pretzels!)
Homeschoolers, this is what we call "cooking class"!
RECIPE FOR CRACKERS:
1 1/2 CUPS WHEAT FLOUR
1/4 CUP BARLEY FLOUR (YOU CAN USE ANY COMBINATION OF FLOUR)
1 1/2 CUPS WHITE FLOUR
1/3 CUP OLIVE OIL
1 CUP WATER
3/4 TEASPOON SALT
MIX ALL INGREDIENTS IN BOWL.
ADD ENOUGH FLOUR TO WORK DOUGH, KNEADING AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE AND ADDING AS LITTLE FLOUR AS POSSIBLE. ROLL OUT VERY THINLY ON UNGREASED COOKIE SHEET. USE BUTTER KNIVES AND FORKS TO MAKE PERFORATIONS. ADD SEASONINGS SUCH AS, GARLIC POWDER, ITALIAN SEASONING, ONION POWDER, ETC AND PRESS GENTLY. (CAN ADD TO FLOUR BEFORE ADDING LIQUIDS IF YOU LIKE TOO.) BAKE FOR 30 MINUTES AT 350 UNTIL LIGHT AND CRISPY!
