Serve over rice, noodles, or mashed potatoes. You can follow my recipe or build on it by adding mushrooms, celery, etc.
A simple and tasty way to cook steaks on a busy day, especially those cheaper cuts that tend to be a little tough!
Enough steak for feed your crew--whatever is on sale(here you see thin sirloin)
1 to 2 cups of chopped onions
1/4 to 1/3 cup of Worcestershire sauce
salt and pepper
Enough water to cover
Cook in crockpot until meat is tender. Approx. 4 to 5 hours on high.
Once meat is tender, mix;
1 cup of cold water with;
1/4 cup of cornstarch
Blend well, then add to the crockpot, stirring until liquid thickens.
Blend well, then add to the crockpot, stirring until liquid thickens.
The first time I served this over mashed potatoes with peas for a side. The next day, the leftovers were served as you see below. The peas were mixed with the meat and poured over a nice piece of fried cornbread and topped with leftover mashed potatoes. (And I still have leftovers that will be stored to use as a base for a soup or stew!)
