Dill and Cheddar Scones

Needing bread really quick to finish off your meal? I find scones to be a great choice from time to time. Why? .....Well, they are quick and you can't hardly mess them up!

You can make them sweet and add fruit or you can make them savory and add herbs and spices!

You can use whole wheat or other whole grain flours-- or just use plain ole white flour-- or even boxed biscuit mix like this one.

2 1/2 cups of biscuit mix (I use a low-fat kind)
1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
1 T sugar
1/2 t dill
1/2 cup of plain yogurt
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup buttermilk (approx.)
sesame seeds (opt.)

Heat oven to 425. Combine dry ingredients, then add egg, yogurt, and milk. Stir until blended and turn out onto lightly greased pan, lightly patting out into a circle. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if you like.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, checking the middle to make sure it is done. Remove from oven and allow to stand for 2 or 3 minutes. Cut in wedges and serve.

I served this bread with my Chicken Turnip Soup. The kids ate every bite of this bread.
