These are basically a biscuit with a few adjustments. They are a little like a cake donut in taste but in texture, more dry like a biscuit. (I used part wheat flour too.)
They use butter in the place of shortening and have 1/2 cup of sugar and cinnamon and nutmeg.
They also use a little extra baking powder.
The glaze is 2 cups of powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons of maple syrup, and a couple of table spoons of water; just enough to whip up into a thick glaze.
You bake like a biscuit and glaze like a donut! Light and easy- not 'great' but the kiddos enjoyed them, even asking for for more. They liked them with a nice hot cup of tea.
