New England Boiled Dinner...




I didn't boil this- I tossed it in a pot and into the oven! ;-) But you can boil it on the stove top if you like!

Rinse your brisket and place in the pot. Use the seasoning packet as those mustard seeds are good for leaching the nitrates out!
Scrub potatoes and carrots, peel turnips, and chop 1 large onion and 2 celery(and tops) and toss in your pot.
Season with marjoram, rosemary, fresh pepper, and a pinch of basil. I also like to toss in a bay leaf.
Cover with water and bake at 325 for 5 1/2 hours.
Before serving, slice brisket.
Cook beets with beet tops to go with this dish, seasoning with salt and pepper.
