This bread is tops!- when it comes to old-fashioned white bread!
1 cup warm water with
1 1/2 t cane sugar
Stir in:
1/2 cup milk powder (opt)
1/2 cup milk powder (opt)
3 c warm water
1 T salt
1/2 cup cane sugar
1/4 cup rendered beef fat or lard (or oil)
3 T butter, softened
Add 6 cups of unbleached flour and beat in mixer for a couple of minutes.
Beat in 4 more cups of flour.
Gradually knead in 1 to 2 more cups.
Allow to rise until doubled, punch down, knead.
Separate into 4 loaves and knead until smooth and silky.
Place in buttered pans and allow to rise until doubled.
Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
Butter tops. Allow to cool for 5 minutes and slice-

I will have to try this today, the kids haven't had bread in a couple of weeks and are needing some so this sounds like the perfect recipe and I have all the ingredients..now if I can just keep myself out of it!
