Christy, I have an old dehydrator and I simply wash them, pat them dry, and lay them out on the trays on low temp for about 15 hours.
Here's a link that has some other methods on the lower portion: http://www.pickyourown.org/DHbasilmint.htm
You would just want to use the lowest temperature possible.
I've also known old timers who dried things in the sun on white sheets and covered them with sheets in the evening. Another lady I met once, dried things (apples) between two window screens, right in the hot sun.
Some people hang there's by strings in the house, in the warmest possible place with the least humidity.
One last thing, you can also look on youtube at videos. Just type in "how to dry herbs".
Thanks for all the links, I'll check those out...I knew I never should have gotten rid of that dehydrater years ago...but I was young and didn't know any better! Thanks again.

Which soup did you can up? I'm always looking for new soup recipes. :)
Kari,
This is simply tomatoes, corn, and okra with onions and salt and pepper. Very yummy! ;-)
How do you dry basil exactly? We have an over abundance right now and are trying to figure out what to do with it. Thanks!

Christy,
I almost got rid of this one years ago, gulp! Now I'd like to find another at a yard sale, Goodwill, or Freecycle! The more the merrier...:-)
