Would you believe that for many years of my adult life, that I didn't know what brisket was? But now, we find it to be a nice treat from time to time, if I can find it on sale. (*I must caution you here that many are packaged in a nitrate solution.)
I cooked the brisket overnight while we slept, then turned if off the next morning until about an hour of supper time. I cooked it like you would roast, with onions, potatoes, and carrots.
Lots of garden veggies were served as sides; green beans, fried okra and green tomatoes, and my homemade cream corn.

*Meal cost, approx. $8 to feed a full house!

I love brisket! Have you ever had porketta? I like that a little bit more :)
Elizabeth,
No, I haven't heard of it.
You've got one up on me on this one! :-)
