Poor Man's Steak...

My dh loves this meal and so do the kids and well- so does the cook! Its an easy and healthy meal that comes together real easy.
I made roll dough earlier and about 30 to 45 minutes before meal time, I simply pinch off the dough and toss it into muffin cups and cover to rise.
I made a spinach and romaine salad and set it aside.
When its time to preheat the oven, I mix up the meat.
*
-2 lbs of extra lean ground beef
-2 eggs
-1 1/4 cup of quick oats (or rolled oats whirled in blender for 30 seconds or so)
-1/3 cup ketchup
Mix well with hands and place on griddle when rolls go into the oven.
*
While rolls bake and meat cooks, saute
-2T butter
-8 oz sliced mushrooms
-1 medium chopped onion
Once the onions are clear add;
-1 1/2 cups broth (or water)
-1/4 cup white cooking wine (or broth or water)
Bring to a simmer.
*
In a small bowl beat;
-3 T cornstarch (or arrowroot)
-1 cup of milk
Add to boiling broth.
Return to boil and cook until thickened.
Add 1/2 t paprika. (opt. this will give it the darker color)
Salt and pepper to taste.
Serve over meat.
*
Meat and rolls get done about the same time, set out the salad, and let's eat!

How does the meat cook? Are you shaping it like hamburger patties? or is it one huge blob that is being fried in a pan? Sorry if this is a retarded question, I am just trying to figure it out from the photo and directions and title and not quite sure what the final product should look like. The ingredients look great, I'm just needing a little more detail before I attempt this. :)
