Turnips and Romaine from the Garden:

 I hadn't planned on cooking turnips today- but who could pass these up?!! 
My romaine was starting to taste bitter when I'd eat it outside in the garden so I thought all was lost. (And no doubt it will be soon because the temps are soaring!)  I read somewhere that chilling it well would take out the bitter. I brought it in, put them in water with a little ice, let it drip dry and bagged them for the fridge ... let them get nice and cold- and guess what-it wasn't bitter!
