Menu Plan- Feb. 4, 2012

 Welcome to Menu Plan Monday!

My Frugal Tip of the Week: For several months now, we've been having Pizza Night every weekend. I made enough for supper that night and leftovers for lunch the next day. The cost of the pepperoni-under $8, mozzarella $15, pizza sauce $5, and then my dough. My guess is right at $32 and that is for 8 meals of pizza. One meal at any pizzeria would cost my family more than that, but this way, we save gas and time and get 8 meals for cheaper than the price of one- and they think it's a blast! (And I'm always happy to cook once and eat twice!)

We have started Friday night pizza night as well. We also use that night for a "movie" night. We have pizza and watch an old movie we have on video or one new checked out from the library! Great frugal fun!!

Way to go!
We do the same and they've all come to look forward to it now. Yes- big fun! (To eat with TV is a great big deal, lol.)

You know it really is a big deal here to eat with TV!!! LOL Im sure its not to most families but to us it is. My children look forward to it every week as well. Last week my dh said,"Your homemade pizza is way better than store bought I don't know why we do this sooner." He really doesn't like take out pizza anymore but will eat homemade. Im going to try and create more "take out" meals at home as well for Friday nights. I think its so fun to do this!! Do you do any other mock take out foods?

I do but some are typical and some are not. I'm trying to work on more.

One thing they love is shredded chicken sandwiches:

The kids say they taste like Arby's roast beef with a little ketchup. (Strange, but they love them).

We also have a soft taco night about once a month. If I catch hard shells on a good sale, then we sometimes do both. Sometimes I try to make beans and rice too, like Monterey's or El Tapatio would serve as a side.

Once in a blue moon, we'll do spaghetti with meatballs. On a few special occasions, I've actually bought the chunk Parmesan and grated over their food or let them do it and also made breadsticks and Olive Garden's salad. (Tammy has a mock recipe for this that is great!) I need to do this again! I haven't done it in a couple of years. I have an extra turn grater if you'd like!

Your family might would like weekend buffets. Sorta like I do at Thanksgiving and Christmas but make it more frugal maybe. ..but make enough for the weekend ;-)

There is a restaurant in Chattanooga called Bea's. It's not a fancy place- but always full. They have buffet style round tables that you eat at. The inner part of the table spins around so you don't even have to get up! They serve Southern foods like fried chicken, beans, potato wedges, cornbread, rolls, pies, greens etc.

Here's a picture - Oh I loved that place!

Oh you gotta see this, it's another picture of Bea's

Fifth picture down...
See the sliced tomatoes, BBQ, Peach Cobbler?

They put all of that on your table!
It's like going to Grandma's! Or Aunt Bea's ;-)
